ABOUT
I’m Vasile Visovan, a craftsman from northern Transylvania, born and raised in Maramureș county, a place of myths and legends where traditional craftsmanship and resourcefulness go hand in hand. In Romania, we learn to repair, restore, and respect the tools and materials that shape our homes and lives. Whether it’s reglazing a communist cheap window, restoring a fence, or rewiring a fuse during an outage, very commonly during the Ceausescu era, I've been immersed in hands-on work and the "fix it, don't replace it" mentality from an early age, observing my dad. Over the years, I’ve refined these skills and brought them with me to the Pacific Northwest, where I now call Mercer Island home.
Growing up the iconic Maramureș wooden churches, hundreds of years old,—a UNESCO heritage symbol of our region’s artistry — I learned the value of preserving and creating with purpose.

This heritage inspired me to found The Old World Handyman, a family-owned business I run on my own, here in the greater Seattle area. My goal is to provide clients with quality and care rooted in old-world traditions, bringing that commitment to every project.
At The Old World Handyman, each job, from restoring timeworn woodwork to making custom repairs, is more than just work—it’s a reflection of the legacy I carry with me. When I work with you, I bring that legacy, creating results that stand the test of time.
